Where we Love and Live to Make Amonate, Virginia Better!
Amonate is an unincorporated community in Tazewell County, Virginia. The community was established in the early 1920s by Faraday Coal & Coke, about 8.5 miles northwest of Tazewell. It was a model coal company town with nice homes, which housed the miners and their families. Amonate also had a booming company store and a movie house which are no longer here, but the memories and stories of them are.

Thank you VT CDAC!
I’m excited to share this flyer featuring the amazing team from Virginia Tech's Community Design Assistance Center (CDAC). These talented individuals will be working with Amonate to help bring new life to our community. The picture on the left-hand side is a glimpse of Amonate as it is today. While it represents where we’ve been, I truly believe this collaboration will help us reimagine what Amonate can become. A huge thank you to this team for believing in our little coal camp and for offering their expertise to help us achieve our goals.
Together, we can make a difference!
